DonutSMP scam reporting (Oct 28, 2026): what evidence to save after a bad trade

Updated October 28, 2026. Trade-gone-wrong clips keep showing up on public DonutSMP feeds this week, including short clips titled "got scammed on donutsmp" and trap-escape videos. There is no new official rule change today, so this is a practical explainer: what to do in the first few minutes after a suspected scam, what evidence actually helps, and how to keep a report clean.

We are not official DonutSMP staff. The steps below follow public player guides. A report is a request for review. It is not a promise that items come back.

First five minutes: stop, then save

Do this before you write the report. The useful record is the one you still have in the first few minutes, while the screen and the chat are unchanged.

  • Stop sending anything else. No "one more try", and no follow-up payment to "fix" the deal.
  • Copy the other player's exact in-game name. Display names and nicknames can change. The username is what matters.
  • Take screenshots right away, and keep any recording you already have running.
  • Write down the date, approximate time, item, quantity, and the terms you agreed on.
  • Re-read the current Server Rules so your report fits what the server actually reviews.

Evidence that actually helps

Public player guides on trade evidence list the same core set:

  • A clear screenshot of the full trade interface, not a crop.
  • The other player's exact username.
  • The date and rough time.
  • Chat messages that show the agreement.
  • Before-and-after screenshots of your inventory or the container.
  • The listing or order involved, if the deal came from the auction house or /orders.

Keep the original files. Every re-save or crop of a screenshot can drop context a reviewer needs. If the deal was for a container, note what was supposed to be inside it before you accepted. The public Trade Evidence Guide is the longer version of that list.

Writing the report

Use the DonutSMP Support Portal or the official reporting route the rules point to. Tell the story in order: what was offered, what you agreed, what you sent, what you got. Keep what you saw separate from what you think happened. Attach only the files that matter. Our September 30 support-portal note covers how the public wiki describes opening a ticket. It is not a new process for today.

Don't retaliate or post call-outs

Public accusations can leak unrelated personal info and can get in the way of a review. Redact anything private before sharing even a screenshot publicly, and keep the main evidence for the official channel. A clip titled "got scammed on donutsmp" is not a staff ruling, and a trap-escape video is not a case file.

What a report does not promise

A report does not guarantee your items come back, a refund, or a specific moderation result. Community marketplaces and Discords are not official DonutSMP services, so treat them with the same care. The public Scam Reporting Guide is the place those limits are written down.

Prevent the next one

Before a big trade, run through our trading checklist and trap awareness guide, and price-check the item first.

What this page does not claim
