DonutSMP Shard Items & Amethyst tools (Sep 21, 2026): drill pickaxe, timer, and shop costs
On Sep 21, 2026, DonutSMP still has no confirmed brand-new patch note. The useful public fact for today is the community wiki coverage of Shard Items (also called Amethyst Items): premium tools and consumables bought from the Shard Shop with Shards, not Money — and documented with a one-day self-destruction timer you must check before you buy or trade.

What Shard Items are
Amethyst Items / Shard Items are premium tools and consumables purchased through the Shard Shop with Shards. The shop is separate from the player-driven Auction House: Shard Shop costs are set by the server, while AH prices are chosen by players.
Documented Shard Items in the current selection:

Verify the exact item description, timer, and current shop cost in game before purchasing. Wiki lists are a documented snapshot, not a live guarantee that every entry remains unchanged.
The one-day timer (read before you buy or flip)
Shard Items are documented with a self-destruction timer beginning at one day. Check the timer displayed on the exact item. A nearly expired tool should not be valued like a fresh one on the player market.
Before buying or trading a Shard Pickaxe (or sibling tools), the wiki checklist is practical:

Do not rely on old rough player-market estimates. Use current completed sales or verified listings when evaluating value. An Auction House listing is an asking price until a buyer completes it.
Historical note only: the Shard Potion of Haste was also documented as providing a four-times multiplier to AFK shard gain under the removed AFK Zone earning system. That bonus should not be presented as a current shard source. Shards today are documented as 1 shard every 10 minutes of playtime for every player, plus purchases from the official DonutSMP store (see shards explained, Sep 9).
Multi-block mining caution + shop context
The Shard Pickaxe’s nine-block effect makes it useful for rapid excavation. Exact shape depends on mining direction and current server behavior. Some materials or protected blocks may not work with the ability. Multi-block tools can break more than the single block being targeted — keep them away from valuable structures until current behavior is understood.
The Shard Shop also sells max-enchanted netherite gear with documented September 2026 costs on the wiki (mace, spear, sword, tools, bow/crossbow, armor pieces). Treat those as a separate shopping lane from the timed Shard Items above: confirm enchantments and prices in the live shop. Soft link: Crystal PvP (Sep 20) notes the shard pickaxe being unavailable in combat was intentional in June 2026 PvP notes — verify live combat restrictions.
Removed / historical only (do not pitch as buyable today): Amethyst Bucket; Spawners from the Shard Shop (closed supply — see Sep 16 spawners article); crate keys.
What this page is not
This page is not a live price list for converting shards into Money, not a claim that border expansion or a flood percent changed overnight, and not a tutorial for exploiting multi-block mining.
