On Sep 18, 2026, DonutSMP still has no confirmed brand-new patch note. The useful public fact for today is the community wiki Money page: a high /bal is liquid Money only, not total wealth. Players often park value in hard assets — spawners, elytras, enchanted golden apples, rare equipment, and limited or discontinued items — so /baltop can rank someone below a poorer-looking inventory.

Public wording lives on donutsmp.wiki/money (economy section; check the page’s own last-updated stamp). Soft background: shards explained (Sep 9) and spawners closed supply (Sep 16).
/bal and /bal <player> show liquid Money on the account. /baltop ranks by that same liquid number. The wiki is explicit: balance and total wealth are not the same. Someone with a smaller balance can still hold more value in spawners, elytras, or other rares than a player sitting higher on the board.
Transfer that liquid stack with /pay <player> <amount> (wiki examples use shorthand like 1k / 1m / 1.5b style amounts — confirm live in-game). Direct /pay is common for player-to-player deals; it does not magically escrow an item hand-off.

Community wiki “common stores of wealth” and /baltop caveats name:
| Hard asset | Desk note |
|---|---|
| Spawners | Existing cages — new minting from the Shard Shop is already covered as closed supply |
| Elytras | A common hard-asset store, not a /bal line |
| Enchanted golden apples | Wiki-listed wealth store (EGAP) |
| Rare items and valuable equipment | Inventory value /baltop does not rank |
| Limited or discontinued items | Treat dated “M” tables as old community bands |
Treat any old “approximate M” price tables you see floating online as dated community bands, not a live print. Check /ah, /orders, and the fan trackers from the Sep 15 public-trackers article before you buy or dump.

Money in /bal is immediately usable for Auction House buys, Orders, or /pay. Parking wealth in items introduces market risk: an asset bought for a big stack can later be worth more or less. The wiki’s inflation note is the same idea — if liquid Money grows faster than the supply of desirable assets, players may bid those assets higher. Inflation does not move every item equally.
Practical split on this desk: keep enough liquid for deals and listings, and treat hard assets as the slow wallet. Extra Auction House / order listing room on paid Donut+ tiers (Sep 17 homes & tiers) only helps if you actually list — it does not mint elytras or spawners. Soft background: sell multiplier explained and Auction House vs Orders.
This page is not a live price sheet, not a /baltop scrape, and not a claim that border expansion or a flood percent changed overnight. Border status as of last week: still announced-not-live (Sep 12). Flood heatmaps stay on the public trackers article — we are not inventing an official %.
If you need starter Money after a wilderness /rtp, donutsmpexchange.com is the fast delivery lane — it does not replace grinding stacks or buying hard assets on the open market.
