DonutSMP spawners (Sep 16, 2026): closed supply — trade existing cages, not /shop
On Sep 16, 2026, DonutSMP still has no confirmed brand-new patch note about border expansion or a fresh spawner drop method. What did change in public community docs is the spawner economy itself: community wiki pages updated in early September describe spawners as closed supply. New cages are not currently sold through the Shard Shop, and no active server method creates fresh ones. The only spawners in circulation are ones that already exist and move between players through trading.
That is a different lane from last week’s early farm ladder (cactus and bamboo before expensive spawners). If you are still planning a “buy my first Iron Golem from /shop with shards” path, check the live shop and wiki again before you spend — public docs now treat Shard Shop spawner sales as historical, not current. What closed supply actually means
- No new minting from /shop: Public wiki wording (last updated around Sep 7, 2026) says spawners are no longer sold through the Shard Shop and that no active server method creates new ones.
- Ownership changes, supply does not: Every successful trade only moves an existing cage. Scarcity alone does not guarantee a higher price — demand for the output still matters.
- Do not invent /ah shortcuts: Older player guides often said spawners could not be listed on /ah or dumped via /sell. Treat that as a reason to verify the live listing rules in-game rather than pasting an old Discord tip as gospel.

Independent “community spawner market” boards described on fan wikis are not official DonutSMP marketplaces. An advertisement or screenshot is not proof the seller owns the cage.
Farm economics still beat vibes
A spawner is not automatically profitable because it is rare. Compare demand for its output, the current sell route (/sell multiplier vs /ah vs Orders), collection and storage cost, and a timed production test. Skeleton and Iron Golem cages stay frequently discussed, but the best pick moves with market demand — measure items collected over a known period instead of trusting undated “infinite money” clips.
