DonutSMP PvP prep checklist (Oct 20, 2026): what to carry, what to leave home, and the combat rules that still apply

As of Tuesday, October 20, 2026, there is no new public DonutSMP combat patch note, so this is a practical prep guide built from the public DonutSMP wiki PvP page (last updated Sep 7, 2026) and the June 2026 update notes it summarizes. With spawn gone, most fights now happen out in the wilderness, often far from your base. Losing a fight is usually about what you brought, not how you swung.

1. Check your kit before you leave base

The wiki's own advice is simple: review armor, durability, food, inventory space and escape options before entering a fight.

  • Armor and weapon durability. Repair before you go, not mid-fight.
  • Food. Carry more than you think you need. Running out of saturation in a long fight is a common way to lose.
  • Free inventory space. You want room for the loot if you win, and less clutter to dig through while you fight.
  • An escape plan. Ender Pearls, an Elytra (see our Elytra travel tip) or a known route home. Decide it before the fight starts.
  • Totems and crystals if you fight that style. Our Crystal PvP and totems explainer covers the basics.

2. Leave the valuables at home

The wiki puts it plainly: carrying unrelated valuables increases what you lose if you die. Split your inventory into a combat kit and everything else.

  • Do not carry spawners, shulkers of farm loot, rare trade items or stacks of materials into a fight.
  • Keep trade and build items in your base or ender chest.
  • Write down or screenshot valuable gear before risky fights, so you know exactly what you had.

3. The combat rules that still apply

Server rules and anti-cheat always come first. The June 2026 update notes, as summarized on the public wiki, called out three specific things:

  • No Mining Cooldown is a banned cheat. It was named as a prohibited fast-break modification.
  • Quick Buy cannot be used in combat. Do not plan on buying supplies mid-fight.
  • The shard pickaxe is unavailable in combat on purpose. That is intended behavior, not a bug to report.

Prohibited client mods, automation and duplication exploits are off-limits in general. See our client mods rules post before installing anything new. Live configuration can change, so treat no kit, protection level or cooldown as permanent.

4. If you die

Thrown Ender Pearls have configurable death behavior that is documented in the in-game Settings, so check yours before you rely on a pearl that is still in flight. Do not assume support will restore lost items. If something truly broke, use the support portal with clear evidence.

5. Fighting with friends now that /team is gone

Teams were removed on June 2, 2026. That means no more team chat, no shared team home, and no 50-player team permissions. If you fight as a group now:

  • Agree on a meeting point in advance instead of relying on a team home.
  • Be careful with teleport requests during or after a fight. Our TPA traps guide explains why.
  • Only accept teleports from players you actually know.

Quick checklist

  1. Gear repaired, food stocked, inventory cleared.
  2. Escape route chosen (pearls, Elytra or a known path).
  3. Valuables left in base or ender chest.
  4. No banned mods, no Quick Buy or shard pickaxe plans mid-fight.
  5. Teleports only from people you trust.
